Curious About Autumn!

Fall is finally here! And with it comes all of my favorite things: scarf and sweater weather, gorgeous foliage, and some of the coolest events here at The World’s Only Curious George Store. This year is the first year of our participation in Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s statewide Curiosity Day. But it’s not just about everyone’s favorite Curious monkey. Curiosity day celebrates a lifelong love of reading and learning for children of all ages.

For Curiosity Day Celebration, we’ll be sharing some of our favorite Curious George stories, then working on all sorts of crafts and coloring pages, and then raffling off some awesome prizes generously given to us by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. If you’re local and happen to drop by the store any time this month, come fill out one of our banana decorations with what makes you curious, and you will be entered into one of our raffles.

It’s sure to be a day full of fun!

Cars, Planes, and More from Green Toys

Hi Everyone!

My name is Jane and I’m the Sales Supervisor at The World’s Only Curious George Store. I’ll be talking about exciting new toys and books that we’ve gotten into the store every month. Right now we’ve got some great toy airplanes, cars, and more from Green Toys!

Green Toys is a great company that turns recycled plastic into fun toys for kids. Not only are these toys environmentally friendly, they’re all made right here in the USA. We currently carry the transportation toys, including the airplane, seaplane, dump truck, fire truck, submarine, tugboat, rocket, ferry boat, and the blue and red race cars.

The Green Toys line is great for toddlers, and some toys are for kids as young as 1 year old, like the airplane and dump truck. My favorite is the ferry boat for ages 3 and up. It can be used in the bathtub or pool, and even comes with two cars for the ramp!

Be sure to come by and check out our Green Toys window display, and ask for some great transportation books to go with your new toy fire truck or ferry boat!

New from Schylling

Hello everyone!

My name is Jimmy and I am the Assistant Manager at The Curious George Store and resident toy-lover. Every month or so I will be bringing you some info on the newest toys that we are carrying in our store. This month, I’ve got some new toys from Schylling to share with you.

Lottie Dolls

First up is a new line of dolls aimed at girls 3-9 that our staff is really excited about. Lottie was launched in August 2012 and in one short year, has already won 12 awards in the US and UK. She is just under 8 inches tall and comes in bright, colorful packaging.

Unlike other dolls, Lottie has a childlike body, which was designed with child psychologists, nutrition and industry experts, and retailers, as well as parents and children. She doesn’t wear make-up, jewelry, or high heels and can stand up on her own two feet.

We carry 6 different themed Lottie dolls and we have her horse, Seren, coming soon. Stop by and check them out!

The second new toy we have are Monster Marbles. With over 30 monsters in series 1.1 to find and collect, these blind-bags are gonna move fast.

Keep an eye out for the rare Silver Monsters…

and the super rare Gold Monsters!

Each package comes with 1 Monster Marble and instructions for 4 different games to play. Battle, race, and compete with your friends!

Look out for my next post. I will be talking about a much requested toy that we will finally be carrying!

“Salutations!” said the voice.
Wilbur jumped to his feet. “Salu-what?” he cried.
“Salutations!” repeated the voice.
“What are they, and where are you?” screamed Wilbur. “Please, please, tell me where you are. And what are salutations?”
“Salutations are greetings,” said the voice. “When I say ‘salutations,’ it’s just my fancy way of saying hello or good morning.”

― E.B. WhiteCharlotte’s Web

Welcome to The World’s Only Curious George Store, Harvard Square! We’re obviously known for our Curious George books, toys, games, and clothing, but did you know we also carry a large selection of other items as well? The beloved children’s book Charlotte’s Web, quoted above, is just one of the many fabulous things you will find in our store. Though we’ve been open for a little over a year now, it seems that there’s still a lot for people to learn about us. We’ll be using this blog to reintroduce ourselves and our store to our friends around the world. It will also be a place for us to tell you what we’re excited about so that you can get excited too!

Happy reading!
