Customer F.A.Q. of the Month:
"Why Is The World's Only Curious George Store
Located in Harvard Square?"
H.A. (Hans Augusto) and Margaret Rey created The Adventures of Fifi, a very Curious monkey, all the way back in 1939. During that time, World War II had begun in Europe, causing Hans and Margaret, who were both of German Jewish backgrounds, to flee from their home.

They packed their manuscripts and set off on bicycles, making their way across Europe, and eventually disembarking to New York.
Once in New York, "Fifi" became "George", and everyone's favorite curious monkey came into print when Houghton Mifflin published Curious George in 1941. The Rey's eventually moved to Cambridge, MA, and spent the last 30 years of their lives in the area. We are proud to be the home for and one stop shop place for everything Curious George.

To learn more about the history of the Rey's journey, The Journey That Saved Curious George, is an amazing book chronicling their early life, the creation of Curious George, and the harrowing tale of their passage to the US. You can also learn more about us and check out our history here.

Curious George's next appearance is:
February 14th, 2014
